Your fears is your greatest threat towards your goal

There was a time that I was reading in the school library, a book about life. It's a religious book but instead of narrating everything whatever the Bible says, it tells you different short stories and poems about the realities of life.

One poem caught my attention:
Worries, Worries, Worries
by Grenville Kleiser

He worried about the weather,
     he worried about his health,
he worried about his business,
     he worried about his wealth.

She worried about the children,
     she worried about her clothes,
she worried about her neighbors,
     she worried about her woes.

They worried about their taxes,
     they worried about their pets,
they worried about their future,
     they worried about their debts.

They worried, still they worried;
     they worried, but alas!
They worried about a lot of things
that did not come to pass!

The poem is really entertaining AND it is very true. I just realized after reading it how much we depend on our Chicken Littles to drive us into our future in fear.

"I don't know about you but I know I don't want a coward to lead me in my life--to lead my life."

After reading the poem, I wonder if you still will continue to worry about everything? Or would you rather start to expect that everything will be fine? Or instead, take advantage of that fear and worries in your financial life and make your brain work up solutions on how to solve those things so that you can have more time to worry about the others...if you know what I mean.

MyLot Earning Payment Proof

"If you had any doubts in MyLot before, don't doubt now." Actually I'm just saying this to myself. Hehe!
Honestly, this is my first income from MyLot that was passed into my PayPal account.
I just received this payment last March 10,2012 and I feel so happy about it. Kinda felt proud for a "job well done" for the past few months I spent doodling around to get this.

If only I hadn't stopped for a while due to a heath related emergency, I bet I can earn this amount way before the third month of the year.

Shouldn’t schools start to offer extracurricular subjects that focus on money management?

Academic lessons and Sports activities are important in a person’s learning process in life. But times have change and it has become the truth that only those are not enough to secure our survival. People are already suffering due to the lack of options on where to get themselves enough income to live in the current society, where majority are working and laboring but at the same time digging themselves deeper into debt every year and, possibly, every day.

Mathematics: Money or Shapes?
Financial literacy is a subject that each and every one of us should learn. That is the purpose of our math subjects in the first place, isn’t it? We have to know how to budget our money and use them wisely to sustain our very needs. But sadly, instead on focusing on the money, we focus on other things in the math lessons such as figures and trigonometry used by engineers. Not everyone becomes an engineer but everyone uses money, correct?

Science of Money
In order to use money, people need to know about the money. Some says it’s the root of all evil. Is that the truth or just a superstition? It becomes evil if the person in question does evil deeds to earn money. He becomes a slave for money but it is not the case if the person is USING the money.
Money is a tool that is used to get what a person needs like food, clothes and shelter. It is a power that is neutral in every aspect: not evil but also not good. It depends upon the person who is using this tool. Just like science. Do you get what I’m saying? We use tools such as science and money to make our work load easier and our life better.

I am currently focusing my attention to MyLot

De Stress!

I tried multi-tasking to earn more money online. Within a day I can already click for more than a hundred time in  EasyHits4U while clicking in Clixsense, play in Dungeons and Treasures (D&T); myLands; Virtonomics; Golden Clone and eRepublik and still participate in MyLot and at the same time blogging. I found out that by the end of the day, my activities leave me almost weak and sick from frequently changing windows for every few seconds. Another thing I've learned is that my concentration has become so scattered that I need some time to refocus as to the reason why I am doing this in the first place.

De School!
And, let's not forget that I am still a student and that school is back for me. My time in front of my computer has become (again) limited to only a few hours time. Not to mention I still have chores to do.

De Break!
I took a little break to think "what is it between those sites, that I've been participating, that gives me the most income?" MyLot is the site that earned me $0.95 for just less than two weeks of participation last December 2011. And that earning came from small comments and completing certain tasks because I really focused on clicking and playing D&T. And just now, while in the middle of January 2012 (on and off participating), I earned a total of $4.93 cents and rising.

Compared to to those sites, I mentioned above, I really recommend MyLot to those who are bored and  who had nothing. This is my advice that came from real hand experience.

5 Things They DON'T Teach in School

  1. They don't teach how the society works.
    • Though teachers may share a bit about how it worked out for them, they are still just a part of the bigger picture of the society where opportunities and risks go hand in hand. Especially in a society like ours, the experience of one is never true to the general. Example: "finding an employment is necessary to survive" is not true to all anymore in this time and age when people can already earn income freelancing online while they are masters of their own time.
  2. They don't teach students how to study.
    • Correct me if I'm wrong, but studying is defined as 'memorizing' by most people already by memorizing their lessons in order to pass the exams/quizzes/tests presented before them. If the students a decade ago were already memorizing their lessons then the present students can never really learn how to study if the teachers themselves don't know how to themselves. Do you know how to study without memorizing?
  3. They don't teach students how to manage or raise money.
    • In this day and age, many people are "finally" looking for ways to get an extra income. It seems that they have already opened their eyes to the saying "having a job makes you secure in society" is not true anymore. And because of this, stress levels begin to rise. Why? Because most people do not know anymore how to acquire money/income without getting an employment. Because they depended on what they learned in school and believed the common saying that "if you have a good education then you'll have a good future ahead of you". And school does not really tell you the ABCs and the steps on how to earn money but they teach you how to be an employee.
  4. They don't teach students' their talents, creativity and imagination.
    • Contrary to traditional beliefs of school giving great talents to it's students due to its instructions, these skills began within the students themselves. However, these talents are never free to run their own accord in its own course and time as it is already molded at such an early stage, trained and limited by instructions and teachers' preference, thus we really will never know the extent of these abilities of students who could have limitless capabilities. Example: Students are only instructed to draw under a certain theme/category set by moderator/s under a specific time. So, does school destroy our imagination and creativity?
  5. They don't teach students where they will be 10 or 20 years from now.
    • Of course not, because the school is not a seer or a magician. But that is not what I meant. Have you ever asked yourself, when you were still in school, what and where would you be in 10 or 20 years time? I know I have. And I had thought that I would be employed in a very rich company yet that made me feel so sad and I wondered why. And it's only now that I realized that it's because I will never really live my life different from others, who will graduate and get a job. Yet, we have different rankings from one to the other based on how we did well in school; but that is not a permanent basis for a person's way of living.

How to earn in MyLot?

I still find people ask the same thing time and again in MyLot. And because I grow tired of answering and seeing similar questions, I'll just create this so that  at least I can share to everyone the methods, that I know of, on how to earn in MyLot.

Earning Method # 1: Post Discussions and Comments/Respond
Just like what the site is encouraging its users, create quality discussions and post quality comments under a certain interest. This is the very basic on how to  earn in  MyLot . What do I mean by quality? I mean, the discussions would encourage MyLotters , the users of  MyLot , to think and give their own opinion; explaining it in a clear manner that everyone can see his/her own point.

Advice: Post Discussions that encourage people to use their imagination, it can be a popular topic in your area or a problem you are faced with. As long as it is open-ended and in need of analysis and of course...something that interests you.

Earning Method # 2: Perform Tasks in exchange for a certain amount
It's very much like "missions" in games. But this one you can select which of them you would like to participate in. Just like most missions, they too have deadlines and they depend on the moderator of the task.Tasks can be found in tasks->available in MyLot. If you want to view that current tasks you participated it, go to tasks->my tasks. You also have the option to back out if you find you can't do the job on time.

Publishers can take advantage of the tasks function of MyLot by using it to encourage the MyLotters to sign up in sites one wishes to promote, as what most are doing nowadays.

Advice:  Mylotters should check the available tasks often. There are tasks that are very easy to do and takes little time.

Earning Method # 3: Use the search bar
Use the bar just like how you use google or yahoo search bar. You will know that you earned something using the search bar if you see a pop up telling you "Congratulations" from  MyLot. But try not to abuse it by using bots or MyLot would not reward you.

Earning Method # 4: Refer a friend
MyLot is a social community that encourages users to acquire friends. However, just referring anybody does not mean you earn something already. That friend needs to be active in order for you to earn dollars.

Earning Method # 5: Use MyLot often
Log into MyLot often. Participate, read and comment. Do the methods mentioned above and you'll be increasing your money in MyLot. Create friends, comment in their discussions and they may repay you by commenting in yours which can help you in increase your earnings still. It's a matter of give and take.

How to create your own customized "Web Template"

"You don't have to be an expert to be able to create something unique."
There are many web templates around the net if you search for them. Yeah, you can download them; sometimes for free and sometimes you have to pay for them. But, what if you can't seem to find the right template that you wish to use and place in your site?

You'll have to wither hire someone to create something for you, which is expensive, or you can make your own.

"But I don't know how to code!"
So? Start learning along the way.

"What do I need?"
  1. Yourself. "Be prepared to have your patience tested." Frustration is normal but if this happens, take a break and treat yourself to a cup of coffee or chocolate.
  2. A site. In this tutorial we're going to use the CSS Zen Garden as a sample site.
  3. For those who don't know how to code html and/or css, there are easy to understand instructions in w3schools.
  4. Photoshop or any image editing tool.
  5. Komodo Edit or any html/css editor.
  6. IE tester and the following browsers: Chrome; Firefox; Safari.
Why do I need this? You will use these to see how your site looks from one browser to another. Template editors use these for checking purposes. More often than not, web sites look different from one browser window to another due to some codes behind them. The lower versions of IE seems to have the most bugs compared to the last three browsers mentioned above.
"What to do with these? Where do I start?"
  • Go to  CSS Zen Garden and download the html file of the site. You can also download the css file and change the codes from there.  Or you can just download the html and css here.
As much as possible, please do not change the html document. Think of html as a body of a human person and the css is the clothes you want that person to wear. We only change the clothes and not the body in this activity.
  • The next step, I call it, "getting to know you." Almost similar to asking a stranger his name and spending time with that person; you're going to "get to know" your site (the html). In  CSS Zen Garden, the site is divided into different divisions. (e.g. Participation, Benefits, Requirements, Header, etc). Get to know their names and how they are placed around the file.
  • Go to photoshop and design how you want your site to look like. Be creative and unleash your imagination. Nothing can go wrong here. Of course in designing your web template, consider the users who would go to your site. Save your file in psd form so that you can still use the images later.
  • Now, open your Komodo Edit then your css file. Edit your codes in a way that the placement of the elements are in the same way on how you placed the elements in your psd file. Don't worry if your psd file and html site don't look the same, you can still edit it later. What we're concerned for now is if you can move the elements according to what you want. Call this your "practice stage in manipulating the css codes" before the real fun+pressure begins.
  • Go back to your psd file. Now, think like a doctor because you'll be dissecting your design to certain parts and save them as image files to be placed in your site via the css file. You can also think of it as puzzle pieces. Remember the divisions you used in moving the elements around the site? You can use the divisions background to place your dissected image and like a puzzle piece you put them together.
  • Take your time editing and remember not to stress yourself. Use the IE tester and the different browsers to check your work. If you find that you're stuck on a certain dilemma especially on how your site is different in the lower versions of IE, always remember to use the net to search for the answers. There are codes you can use to determine whether the browser used to read your site is an Internet Explorer or others.
